The Drop

TheBlockTimes has created 4 new exclusive NFTs in the $MEME collab.

Three pieces will go into a pool where you can stake $MEME. Deposit any amount up to 5 tokens and you’ll earn points where can mint a brand-new, exclusive MEME x TBT NFT.

Also, one final piece is up for auction. 80% will go to the artist, 10% to the MEME dev fund, and 10% to charity.

Note: Like the previous artist drop, to ensure support for the artists, we have enabled minting fees to some of the items in the staking pool. Minting fees are denominated in ETH and taken at time of NFT minting.

$MEME Artist Series 5

About the artist:

The project is the first NFT art project designed to digitally capture significant events in our industry with style, redefining “proof of attendance” on the blockchain that can be owned by anyone. No one can re-write it, so you can re-live it. Only 10 NFTs (or less) of each news edition are minted each week, any that don’t sell are burned.

You can follow TheBlockTimes on Twitter.

Starting Wednesday, $MEME holders can begin to stake and start mining these rare NFTs. The TheBlockTimes pool is a brand new pool. No LP tokens are needed.

Meet the Artist

Jordan Lyall caught up with TheBlockTimes to ask what attracted him to a collaboration with $MEME:

Jordan: What first got you into NFT art?

TBT: I’ve been designing professionally for over 15 years, practicing digital marketing for 10, and obsessed with Crypto for 5. Rarible finally gave me the chance to be a creator in the Cryptoverse without needing the knowledge of coding — which was a big barrier to entry for me and many others. The Block Times was created because I always wanted a way to show my friends just getting into the space that I was there for some of the biggest events. There was never a way to do that. So I thought, why not create a collectible digital newspaper that captures those events, proving you were there — in time — on the blockchain. The idea really took off when a couple big collectors noticed my art on Twitter and the rest is history.

Jordan: How did you initially hear about $MEME?

TBT: It was suggested by one of our biggest collectors. He shared a link with me on Twitter that you guys were seeking artists to feature for your artist series and I thought it was a perfect fit for us — seeing as how MEME revolutionized the space in their own way. Marrying the two ideas together seemed like a no-brainer.

Jordan: What do you find interesting about what the $MEME project is doing?

TBT: The artist series, hands down. Using their own platform to feature artists and capture their respective audience while promoting them to MEME’s own audience is a great way to bring NFT collectors, artists, and DeFi together on a community level, as well as a technical one.

Jordan: What else excites you about NFTs and/or DeFi?

TBT: I’m really excited about future integrations with Augmented and Virtual realities (AR/VR). That is where I believe the usecase for NFTs shines the brightest — nothing can compete and the potential for them is honestly limitless.

Jordan: Where will NFT art be in 3 years?

TBT: I really see it being utilized more in social media and gaming. We’ve all been waiting for a crypto social media, and many have tried creating it. However, I think the creation of OpenSea, Superrare, and Rarible are those social media platforms and killer apps we’ve all been waiting for. They have already created vast communities of people connecting, collecting, and discussing art with each other, which by definition is a social network. I think more features will eventually develop for communication within the platform, allowing creators and collectors to collaborate and openly connect much easier.

Jordan: What’s next for you as a digital artist?

TBT: Going back to the AR / VR point, we’re currently working with businesses and communities in metaverses and virtual worlds like Decentraland to allow us to set up “virtual newspaper stands” at the entrances to their buildings and on their land. This will give us further distribution and solidify our brand as the go-to collectible news NFT in crypto. We’re really excited about it.
